Titled û A vision of the future?
Location:In the vicinity of Jita Reporter:Token Prophet
Today is voting day for the pod pilots of our wide and varied universe. A number of candidates have shown themselves to be above the rest, they have issues they believe need addressing. One candidate, Chribba, has given us this statement:
ôMy platform is based on the need for all pod pilots to enjoy their time in space while doing what they wish and making heaps and heaps of ISK.ö
The biggest question mark about the voting process now is the requirement of a manual voting process since the remote console based system was shown to be inconsistent, prone to hacking and manipulation by several sources. The current system, which has been questioned by many citizens, involves any interested parties having to physically fly to and dock at a station in Jita to cast their ballot.
We questioned Jim from Jita Space Traffic Control (JSTC) earlier:
Token:ôHave you ever handled this volume of ships in the past?ö
Jim:ôNo never. The system in place was designed for about 500 ships in system at any one time. Recently we have been seeing numbers in the 1000 to 1500 range and the system just cannot handle it reliably. We estimate that on voting day we could potentially see 30,000 to 40,000 ships all wanting to enter and dock in Jita in a very short time period, certainly many more that the current traffic control system can handle.ö
Token:ôWhat do you think the result will be?ö
Jim:ôChaos, utter chaos. IÆm planning on leaving Jita before voting day as the gridlock could be so bad that Jita might never function again.ö
So here we are with those chilling words still echoing in my mind, watching ships enter and trying to enter Jita to cast their ballot, but not many leaving. It has hard to judge the disaster that may be unfolding in the system of Jita but we may be witnessing a human catastrophe of galactic proportions, we may never see many of these pod pilots again.
Next up we see how many slaves an Amarr university team can fit inside all four of the racial shuttlesà
